The PTGU story told by Denis Babineau (July 21st, 2002)
It all started one night in the summer of 95' when i was flipping the channels on the tube when suddenly, i noticed a guy jumping around the screen, shaking his head, spitting all over the place and singing songs that didn't make any sense to me. Well my friends, that guy was Billie Joe Armstrong from the band Green Day in "Jaded in Chicago". From that day on, i knew i wanted to be just like him, so i borrowed a guitars from one my relative and started practicing. i didn't know what kind of music that was but i sure loved it.

One day, my cousin said to me "I know a guy that plays drums, he only lives down the road not very far from here" so she took me to his house. I brought my little "Crate" amp that i had recently purchase, my guitar and a Green Day tape. That guy had no clue who they were but he fell in love with Tre Cool's style and we started learning Green Day covers. eum.. oh yeah.. that guy was Ghyzz. yup we've been playing together for a long long time...anyways

We knew we had to find a bass player so we started to ask around. At that time we were called the Ugly Ducks. It was in '96, i think, and we knew how to play all the Green Day song from "1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" to "Dookie". (so if your at one of our show and you want to hear some old green day, we'll probably play it for you) We never found a bass player and we never got any better but we had the funnest days of our lives.

The year after, we changed school. We met Felix Richard (bass) and Reginald Daigle (lead guitar). By that time we had the chance to be influenced by many different bands like Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkings, Nirvana bla bla bla, bla bla bla... We started a new band called "Vortex" and we played harder song, our set consisted of Korn, Metallica, and some punk. We got a not bad reputation but we still only played covers. The band broke up when we played a show in Kouchibouguac. I got way past to drunk and couldn't play at all, Ghyzz was with that girl we all hated and Felix smashed his bass against a tree. After that, it all went down hill. The band was getting more disfunctional everyday so we all agreed to go our seperate ways and call it quits. What a sad story *sniff* (i promise it gets better)

In the next 2 years Ghyslain had started a new band called "Doorknob", later on changed to "Ivory Tower". They made a few songs and they were pretty good, i didn't liked them much because they took the bass player that i had just met (Jon). they played a few show here and there and made a music video for a french contest with one of their songs. i think they finished 2nd. Reg and i started a band called "Blanket" with a guy from Acadieville playing drums, i played bass. we started writing but never made much of the songs and less of the band. i spent my days playing video games in Felix's basement.

Then one day, both bands had a show in Aldouane. Half an hour before the show, our drummer hadn't shown up yet. We were furious, cuz to us, it was a pretty big gig. Ivory Tower opened the act and their "singer" screwed up the entire set, then it was our turn to play and we didn't have a drummer so i ask Ghyzz if he wanted to play some old covers with us, he agreed, and the rest is kinda of like the ending of happy movie. We played a pretty amazing set (for 3 guys who hadn't play together for 2 years), Ghyzz quit his band, we kicked out our drummer and we recruited Jon has the bass player, and that's were Pointless to Grow Up was born.

The band started writing in March 2002 and played a few shows here and there. We plan on recording our first CD in the summer of 02' and release it in August. Well, this ends my little story i hope you enjoyed reading it and now you'll know a little more about us.

later, *denis*
